Tryst Guidelines
- Tryst is a quarterly online journal affiliated with Pierian Springs. We are interested in writing that explores the human psyche in a profound but clear and eloquent manner. These objectives should not be confused with pure abstractions, concepts, ideals that are beyond the reach of most readers. We're also interested in well-grounded writing that deals with the nature of human experience. Your work should strive to be honest, heartfelt and meaningful. It is recommended that you peruse the current issue for a better idea of the material we promote. If you’re still unsure, query the editors.
- Submit up to five, but no less than three pieces of poetry, prose, or artwork per month in any combination. Simultaneous submissions will not be accepted; it is essential that everyone abide by these guidelines to avoid any possible conflicts with other publications and or contributors. We accept previously published work by invitation only.
- Send all submissions as plain text in the body of your email. In some cases where you need to retain special formatting, you may send in your work as an attachment. Please ask for specific directions if you’re not sure what format is compatible with our software.
- State the media in the subject of your email: "Poetry (or Prose) Submission: Tryst." Send all photography and artwork in JPG format as an attachment.
- Include a brief bio with a cover letter. A clean, professional bio will earn the respect of an editor. Include your first and last name (or pen name), city and country.
- Presently, we do not offer monetary compensation for accepted work. We will promote your name. When you submit your work, it is understood that you are:
1) Acknowledging the writing is of your own creation; 2) You are granting Tryst permission to publish your work upon acceptance; 3) and, Tryst may archive your work. We also ask that you mention Tryst as the first publication should your work be reprinted elsewhere in the future. Personal copyright reverts back to the author upon publication.
- Submissions will be responded to as quickly as possible. Submissions will never knowingly be ignored. If you do not receive a response within thirty days, please query.
After carefully reviewing these guidelines, you may submit your work to submissions@tryst3.com. The Second Issue of Tryst is scheduled for release September 01, 2002.
Thank you, Mia
